Social StudiesThis page is all about Social Studies and the project that I created. We created five magazines. The topic of the five magazines were World War 1, the Roaring 20's, the Great Depression, the New Deal, and World War 2. The magazine that I was assigned to was World War 2 . I am happy that I got World War 2 because that is the group that I wanted to get.

How It All Started...
This project idea was created by the 8th grade students. Originally, we wanted three magazines, one for WWI, one for WWII, and one for the Great Depression. At first some people didn't like the idea, but then our Social Studies teacher, Ms. Swanson, brought in old LIFE magazines from the time and we found that they are different form the magazines that we know today. Eventually we revised our original plan and decided that we were going to add the New Deal and the Roaring 20's as topics for two more magazines. The group that I was assigned to was the World War 2 magazine. The other people that were assigned to this group were Peyton, Bernardo, Jack S, Belen, and myself. To kick off the project and to make sure everyone had a general idea of what we were doing we made posters with information about our magazine and did a gallery walk and gave each other feedback based on what we saw. Then everyone began on their projects.
Creating the Project
We had a decent amount of weeks to work on our magazine. I was excited to do an investigative journalist report on the Liberty ships and the ports that they were built in and use it in the magazine. I have always admired the men who fought in World War 2, and I am so glad that I got that magazine. World War II had a significant impact on the world. We were all finished with our parts of the magazine by February 28. The next step was to print them out and assemble the magazine. That was simple and only took a day.
